Justyna Zańko

Justyna started playing the violin at the age of seven, and for over eight years studied with outstanding musician and teacher Bohdan Giergiel, leader of the Lublin Philharmonic Orchestra. She graduated with Honours from the Music High School in Cracow, where she studied with Antoni Cofalik. She obtained her MA degree from the Academy of Music in Warsaw studying with Prof.Tadeusz Gadzina and Roman Lasocki.In 2014 she gained a prestigious Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Performance from Birmingham Conservatoire where she studied with the last student and protégé of the legendary David Oistrakh, Dr. Rimma Sushanskaya.

[item title=”THE BEGINNING OF HER CAREER”]
Justyna performed in the semi-finals of national and international violin competitions such as “Competition of the Young Talents” in Cracow, the IV St.Serwaczynski National Competition For Young Violinists, the VII K. Lipinski and H. Wieniawski International Competition for Young Violinists in Lublin (Poland). In 2012 she played in the Finals of the Leamington Music Prize in Birmingham.

Her desire for growth led her to participating in a wealth of music courses: ‘The Summer Academy Mozarteum” in Salzburg, The International Music Course in Sindelfingen with Yair Kless (Austria, Germany), International Music Course with Zakhar Bron (Poland). Along with these prestigious courses are Masterclasses with Christiane Edinger, Anthony Marwood, Ighor Oistrakh, Sally O’Reilly and Savely Shalman.

[item title=”SOLOIST AND CHAMBER MUSICIAN”]

As a soloist she has appeared in many concert halls including the Adrian Boult Hall, Recital Hall at Birmingham Conservatoire, Holy Trinity Church in Stratford-Upon-Avon, Mall Galeries in London, Lublin and Cracow Philharmonic Halls, Goethe Insitute in Cracow, Warsaw Music Academy Concert Hall, The Lublin Crown Tribunal, Music Festival Concert Hall in Brest.

Justyna is also undertaking a number of concerts engagements at “The Old Town Harmonies Festival”, “ The International Festival of the Wieniawski Brothers” in Lublin and “Virtuoso Violin Festival” in Stratford-Upon-Avon.

Conductors she has performed with include Piotr Wijatkowski with the Lublin Philharmonic Orchestra (2001), Przemyslaw Stanislawski with the Royal Tribunal Chamber Orchestra (2012), Michael Seal with the Birmingham Conservatoire Symphony Orchestra (2013), Rimma Sushanskaya with the Stratford Virtuosi Orchestra (2014) and Cheung Chau with the Lublin Philharmonic Orchestra (2018).

She has appeared twice as a concertmaster of the Stratford Virtuosi Orchestra (UK) performing, among others, The Apollon Musagete by Igor Stravinsky. 
She has also played in the Chamber Ensemble at the 4th and 5th “Andrzej Nikodemowicz International Festival- Time and Sound”

Since 2016, Justyna has been a resident performer at the Chamber Concerts Series at the Lublin Community Centre.
Her repertoire includes works from the baroque to the contemporary.

As an orchestral musician Justyna has performed in the Symphony Hall (Birmingham), Polish National Philharmonic Hall, Polish Radio Concert Hall, Academy of Music Hall in Warsaw collaborating with outstanding conductors such as Jerzy Maksymiuk, Marek Pijarowski, Jerzy Salwarowski, Michael Seal, Jerzy Semkow, Bruno Weil and Antoni Wit. Since January 2010 she has worked as an orchestral player in the Lublin Philharmonic Orchestra.
