Justyna Zańko

Justyna started playing the violin at the age of seven, and for over eight years studied with outstanding musician and teacher Bohdan Giergiel, leader of the Lublin Philharmonic Orchestra. She graduated with Honours from the Music High School in Cracow, where she studied with Antoni Cofalik. She obtained her MA degree from the Academy of Music in Warsaw studying with Prof.Tadeusz Gadzina and Roman Lasocki. In 2014 she gained a prestigious Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Performance from Birmingham Conservatoire where she studied with the last student and protégée of the legendary David Oistrakh, Dr. Rimma Sushanskaya.

Justyna is a winner of the First Prizes and the Special Award for Outstanding Musicality of the Bach International Music Competition, Grand Prize Virtuoso in Bonn, London, Salzburg and the Golden Classical Music Awards in New York.

Her desire for growth led her to participating in a wealth of music courses: The Summer Academy Mozarteum in Salzburg, The International Music Course in Sindelfingen with Yair Kless (Austria, Germany), International Music Course with Zakhar Bron (Poland). Along with these prestigious courses are Masterclasses with Christiane Edinger, Anthony Marwood, Ighor Oistrakh, Sally O’Reilly and Savely Shalman.

As a winner of mane international music competitions and a soloist she has appeared in many concert halls including the Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall (Elgar Room), Beethoven House, Solitaire Mozarteum, Malta Society of Arts, Adrian Boult Hall, Recital Hall at Birmingham Conservatoire, Holy Trinity Church in Stratford-Upon-Avon, Lublin and Cracow Philharmonic Halls, Goethe Institute in Cracow, Warsaw Music Academy Concert Hall, The Lublin Crown Tribunal.

Justyna is also undertaking a number of concerts engagements at the international music festival and concert series: Victoria International Arts Festival in Gozo, Malta; The VirtuClassic International Music Festival, The Classics in the Crown, The Old Town Harmonies Festival, The International Festival of the Wieniawski Brothers in Lublin, Poland and Virtuoso Violin Festival in Stratford-Upon-Avon, UK

Conductors she has performed with include Piotr Wijatkowski with the Lublin Philharmonic Orchestra (2001), Przemyslaw Stanislawski with the Royal Tribunal Chamber Orchestra (2012), Michael Seal with the Birmingham Conservatoire Symphony Orchestra (2013), Rimma Sushanskaya with the Stratford Virtuosi Orchestra (2014) and Cheung Chau with the Lublin Philharmonic Orchestra (2018).

She has appeared twice as a concertmaster of the Stratford Virtuosi Orchestra (UK) performing, among others, The Apollon Musagete by Igor Stravinsky.

Since 2020 Justyna has held the position of Chairman of the Virtuoso Music Foundation. She is the creator of many artistic projects and serves as the Artistic Director as well as a Jury Member of the international music competition „The VirtuClassic”. Her first solo album Justyna Zanko Solo Violin was released in 2021. Her repertoire includes works from the baroque to the contemporary.

As an orchestral musician Justyna has performed in the Symphony Hall (Birmingham), Polish National Philharmonic Hall, Polish Radio Concert Hall, Academy of Music Hall in Warsaw collaborating with outstanding conductors such as Jerzy Maksymiuk, Marek Pijarowski, Jerzy Salwarowski, Michael Seal, Jerzy Semkow, Bruno Weil and Antoni Wit.
